点评:We visited as a family with our children, my sister and her husband, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it!
None of us are familiar with D&D, so we weren’t really sure what to expect, but that didn’t matter at all. Our host explained everything really well and was in character from the moment we arrived, which added so much to the experience. He was also incredibly patient with our 7-year-old, who has a habit of jumping into conversations with completely unrelated questions 😂, and made sure he felt included throughout.
Our 7-year-old also decided he was the team leader and took charge of the walkie-talkie. We only realised afterwards that he hadn’t actually passed on all of the clues we’d been given 🤣, so he definitely played a part in slowing our progress down!
The escape room itself is underneath Chapters and Chai, a lovely little book cafe where the staff were equally friendly and welcoming. The cafe has such a nice feel to it, with walls lined with books you can purchase, including some signed by the author. Even the tables are themed with jigsaws underneath, and there’s an ongoing jigsaw for customers to add to. Food and drinks were fantastically priced too.
It’s also only a few steps away from Stockton Waterfront Urban Park, which is completely free and has loads for children of different ages to do, so you could easily make a full family day of it.
The escape room is split into two rooms, so we divided ourselves into teams to tackle them. We definitely found one side easier than the other and, looking back, probably could have switched up who was in each room to help us progress a little quicker!
The amount of thought that has gone into the room, the props and all the little details is fantastic. The puzzles were really varied, which meant everyone could get involved and different people spotted different things.
Most importantly, you absolutely do not need any D&D knowledge to enjoy it. We had none and still had so much fun.
We came SO close to completing it but unfortunately ran out of time right at the end! We all came out talking about how much we’d enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it for families and groups looking for something a little different.
The Baddie Kelly Family and Two Imposters Hunting Rainbow Unicorns (named by the kids 😆) can confirm: no unicorns were found, but a brilliant time was had by all!
