点评:This was a beautiful hike. We loved the fact we had to get permits so the crowds were limited - well worth the $15 each.
Be prepared to get wet. They ask you to be in the stream/creek and not make trails on the side. Please do this to save the landscape. Once you take it to the water it is much easier. The 42F water temps were chilly. People in sandals and tennis shoes were complaining about cold feet. We wore our Astral hiking shoes with neoprene socks ($14 from Amazon) and they did the job perfectly, keeping the chill at bay.
We carried smaller packs with about 50-70oz of water and snacks in case they were needed. I would rather be over prepared than under. We parked at 9:00am and were hiking by 9:15am. The temps were cool on the way in then warmer on the way out. Glad we went early - less people. Parking was ample if you were there early.
We used hiking poles, you didn't need them but they always make it easier walking in the river. We saw people of all ages doing the hike, it isn't strenuous as long as you are prepared to be wet.
