点评：Very disappointing Capri VIP & Blue Grotto experience — Boat #21
We booked the Capri VIP + Blue Grotto excursion through our hotel, the Grand Hotel Capodimonte, and were picked up on time and transported promptly to Marina della Lobra. We boarded boat #21 and departed at approximately 8:00 AM.
Our first stop was supposed to be the Blue Grotto. We arrived at approximately 8:45 AM, but the captain and crew told us the Blue Grotto was closed. We later learned that the Blue Grotto does not open until 9:00 AM, so it was unclear whether the captain was aware of the actual opening time. Rather than waiting, we continued around the island.
The tour itself around Capri was enjoyable. We saw several other grottoes on the north side of the island and eventually stopped for a swim. After swimming for a while, the crew offered us a mask. I asked for a snorkel, which they provided, and also asked for fins. I received no response initially. After we returned to the boat, I asked why fins weren't available, and they then asked what size I needed. There may have been a language barrier, but the communication could have been much better.
We were then dropped off to tour Capri. We took a taxi to the top, did some shopping, had a wonderful lunch, and returned to the boat at the designated time.
At that point, I specifically asked whether we could return to the Blue Grotto to see if it was open. The captain and deckhand told us no. We then proceeded to another location for a second swim. By that point, however, I was not particularly interested in swimming again. The main reason we booked this excursion was the opportunity to see the Blue Grotto.
Before booking the trip, I had researched the Blue Grotto extensively and understood that the best opportunity to visit was generally later in the day, roughly between noon and 2:30 PM, depending on conditions.
When we returned to Marina della Lobra, another tour boat was docking at approximately the same time. We spoke with passengers from that boat and asked whether they had visited the Blue Grotto. They said they had—and we subsequently learned that the Blue Grotto had been open for approximately eight hours that day.
To say we were disappointed is an understatement.
The biggest issue for us was not simply missing the Blue Grotto. It was the lack of effort to determine whether it was actually open later in the day when we specifically asked to go back. We had planned our excursion around seeing the Blue Grotto, and it was extremely frustrating to discover afterward that other tour operators were taking their guests there that same day.
The transportation and timing at the beginning of the excursion were good, and Capri itself was beautiful. However, based on our experience with boat #21 and the way the Blue Grotto portion of the excursion was handled, we would not book this company again and would not recommend boat #21.
If the Blue Grotto is an important part of your excursion, I would strongly recommend confirming in advance how the company handles the grotto's opening schedule and whether they will make a second attempt later in the day if it is not available in the morning.
This version keeps your criticism strong but makes the Blue Grotto being open later that day the central issue, which is the most compelling part of your experience.
