The Olmalaika Trust的点评
点评：I recently had the opportunity to go on a Giving Safari with Olmalaika Trust. Having friends that had previously gone, I had a good idea of what it would be like, but it ended up being so much more than we expected.
We started off our trip spending time with the girls at the Trust. We met and played games with them, and learned a few new ones ourselves. From there we went to the Maasai Mara, which didn’t even feel real at times. We saw 3 of the big 5, my favorite thing was that the lions and elephants were so close it felt like you could reach out and touch them! The hot air balloon ride at sunrise was something I’ll never forget, and the brunch afterward was divine!
The service portion in the Taita-Taveta region was probably the most impactful part of the trip. Everyone was able to serve the community in some fashion. Joe played football with the schoolchildren, then helped cook and serve lunch to them, while I was able to provide medical care in the clinics. Being able to connect with people in that way and seeing how much even small things mattered was incredibly humbling. We met so many amazing people along the way, the school children, translators, hotel staff, and members of the local community. Everyone was so welcoming and kind, and those interactions meant just as much as anything we did. We finished the trip on the coast, which was the perfect way to slow down, reflect, and take it all in.
Kim did an incredible job organizing everything. You could tell how much thought and care went into the experience. Kamunge was an amazing driver, he took us through some challenging terrain with ease, while we were treated to what some call an African massage… IYKYK. I would absolutely recommend a Giving Safari with Olmalaika Trust.
