What an interesting experience!!
Truffle Hunting at Les Pastras的点评
点评：We arrive at Les Pastras at 10:00 am not knowing exactly what to anticipate other than what we read in their website. We love truffles and have often wanted to know more. Well Johann is the man to see! His amazing, educational and knowledgeable introduction blew us away. We are first to arrive and he immediately made us feel at home. His house, gardens and pool area are gorgeous plus the open acreage around us. We’re told there would be 11 of us, different ages and everyone was interesting. Two couples were honeymooners.
Johann patiently waits for the late comers. (Do try to be on time as he is on a schedule and had to repeat himself with his introduction to truffles. But he did and was very gracious). You get to ask questions plus he quizzes you. You can tell he has a deep passion for this farming and the land. We now walk down the road to a pasture of small oak trees. Johann is a hard worker and someone you would love to call a friend. A mini van pulls up and 2 very anxious dogs jump out. They are ready to go and have been well trained. Johann & his partner allow all of us to participate and ask questions. So much fun!! It was a very successful hunt and we now return to the pool house for the best part…samplings of truffles and champagne. The dishes are a work of art, so very delicious and with the crisp, cold champagne, I think everyone just wanted to hang out all day! Very comfortable. However, Johann has another tour at 6pm that day and I’m sure he was exhausted. All of us leave full, happy and overwhelmed with knowledge.
Thank you Johann, your partner and your sweet dogs. It was a memorable experience! Anticipate 3-1/2 to 4 hours, wear tennis shoes or boots and very comfortable clothing. Parking is there.
