点评:I usually don’t write about places we visit, but Komachi Park genuinely deserves a mention because it turned out to be one of the biggest surprises during our Wayanad holiday.
We reached around noon after visiting a nearby viewpoint. Looking at the entrance, I assumed we’d spend about an hour there before moving on. Instead, we ended up staying until almost closing time.
The first stop that caught our attention was the Photography Museum. I wasn’t expecting much, but it was actually fascinating to see how cameras and photography have evolved over the years. My son, who’s only thirteen, kept asking questions and comparing the old cameras with the ones we use on our phones today. It’s rare to see him interested in something educational while on vacation.
From there we wandered into the Photography Exhibition Centre. There were so many beautiful images on display that we probably spent longer there than we intended. My wife, who enjoys photography as a hobby, loved discussing different compositions and lighting techniques with me.
Of course, we couldn’t resist trying the VR Experience. Even though I’ve used VR before, doing it in the middle of a park surrounded by nature felt oddly different. My children couldn’t stop laughing while watching me react to what I was seeing inside the headset.
One of my favourite sections was the Tropical Forest. The mist, greenery and peaceful surroundings almost made us forget we were inside a tourist attraction. It felt cool, calm and incredibly relaxing after walking in the afternoon sun.
Later we explored several of the photo points spread throughout the park. None of them felt repetitive. Every corner offered a different backdrop, and somehow every family photograph looked unique.
We finished the day at the restaurant before starting our drive back. The food was simple, fresh and exactly what we needed after spending nearly five hours exploring.
If someone asks me to describe Komachi Park in one sentence, I’d simply say this: it’s the kind of place where you keep saying, “Let’s see just one more section,” until suddenly the entire afternoon has disappeared
