点评:This is quite a magical place to wander in - surrounded by nature showcased at her best, within the Cairngorms National Park. The shaded, fern-filled woodland trails are delightful, and there are plant-life rich wetlands beside Loch Kinord that attract Greylag geese 🪿, Whooper swans 🦢, Goldeneye, Ospreys, ducks amongst various others.
On the loch are intriguing islands - one with the remains of an Iron - Age dwelling called a crannog, and another one once housed a medieval castle. There’s also a Pictish cross to look out for.
If you’re short of time The Burn O’Vat trail is a short & easy walk - and interesting to see the cauldron-shaped pot-hole. The visitor centre has good information on the surrounding area.
Be aware that walking right round the loch will take roughly 2 hours - so be prepared if you want to take refreshments with you etc. It’s a beautiful walk, and commendably have never come across any litter here.
Main car-park’s off the B9119, with several info boards & trails well-signposted, plus public toilets.
