点评:This area is now part of a tiger reserve ,so allow time to explore before they close for the night and the tigers roam!!
Visited as part of a Group Tour,
We did not have enough time as the group leader did not realise the opening time was so close!
Nothing like the old films of the Beatles visit in 1968,when they wrote tracks on the "White Album" and the grounds were well kept ,buildings white painted and populated with other well known personalities and their crews.
Site founded in 1963 .
The main building ,which was there in 1968 ,is in disrepair and many stone huts (like little Trulli houses )have been built, seemingly 6- 10 years later ,,according to the signage, however the site was later abandoned.
For anyone who likes odd ruined sites with a history that can be remembered from ones own childhood it is quite fascinating.
The Beatles did not actually stay more than 2 months but somehow this is known as "The Beatles Ashram". They actually did put Rishikesh on the map and probably aided the growth of the textile trade in India .!
