Stadium is stunning — but Everton’s soul needs to be on show

点评：I recently went on the new Everton Stadium tour at the Hill Dickinson Stand. The facilities are genuinely impressive, and our guides — I believe Paul and definitely Sophie — were excellent. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and gave us a great behind‑the‑scenes look at what will soon be one of the best stadiums in the country.
However, as an Evertonian, I left feeling something important was missing.
For a club with such a deep history and such a unique identity, the tour doesn’t yet tell the story of who Everton are. If new fans or visitors from other clubs come to Liverpool, they’ll naturally be drawn to Anfield — but if they happen to look up Everton, there’s very little here that explains our heritage, our culture, or why we’re known as The People’s Club.
We haven’t lifted a trophy in over 30 years, but our history is rich, our roots run deep, and our supporters have kept this club alive through some incredibly difficult periods. Everton would not be where it is today without its fans — and that story deserves to be front and centre.
Right now, the tour shows the stadium.
It doesn’t show the soul.
Everton are the senior club in the city, founding members of the Football League, pioneers of the English game, and a club built on community and loyalty. Visitors should walk away understanding that. They should leave thinking, “Liverpool have the trophies, but Everton have the heart — this is my second club.”
The stadium is world‑class.
The staff are brilliant.
Now the tour needs to match that by celebrating the one thing that makes Everton truly special: our people, our history, and our supporters.
I hope the club builds this into the experience, because Everton’s story deserves to be told properly.
