The Battle of Tewkesbury, brought to life.
Tewkesbury Battlefield Society Guided Walks的点评
点评:The Tewkesbury Battlefield Tour commenced in Gander Lane. About 25 of us walked with our guide, Richard, along the recognised battlefield route. I have walked this route before, on my own, and there are informative signs along strategic locations
What I really liked about the experience was that Richard, who is obviously very knowledgeable, made the battles come to life by taking us to locations and talking us through the various skirmishes which took place. You really felt for the Lancastrians who perished in the battle, it was brutal.
I had a little knowledge about the Battle of Tewkesbury before the walk. Afterwards, I felt much better informed.
I very much liked the large roll up map which Richard used to put the battle sites into perspective. Another prop was a longbow arrow and this encouraged much discussion about the niceties of this kind of warfare.
Our walk lasted two and a half hours, half an hour longer than expected, but this was due to discussions which took place.
The walk finishes at The Abbey. Always time for a coffee and a piece of cake..
