点评:We were startled when we drove right by Origami in Garden on the Turquoise Trail between Santa Fe and Albuquerque -- What were those giant metal sculptures doing in the rough desert landscape? We turned around to investigate and were glad we did.
Indeed, the metal sculptures were spread across a hillside crisscrossed by meandering pathways for visitors. These turned out to be the startling handiwork of sculptors Kevin & Jennifer Box, whose studio and home are on the property, plus other sculpture compatriots.
Among the 13 massive sculptures were giant horses, flower bouquets, butterflies and a 25-fppt pyramid fashioned from origami cranes, a popular peace symbol from Japan. The effect of encountering all these sculptures in such a rural setting was as delightful as it was unexpected. We were mesmerized.
A suggested donation of $10 per person seemed a most reasonable entrance fee for this wonderland outside the town of Cerrillos on New Mexico Highway 14.
One small caution: There are a couple of small signs warning of "Rattlesnakes in the Area. Do Not Leave Pathway." We appreciated the warning and were only too happy to remain on the trail.
