More Farm Stay Than Château Hotel

点评：We had high expectations for Château de Marnand, but unfortunately our stay was rather disappointing.
Luca and Ludmilla clearly have their strengths in running their antiques business, and the property itself has a unique charm. However, as hosts there is still considerable room for improvement.
Before our arrival, we were told that dinner prepared by the property's own chef would be available. When we arrived after a tiring journey in full expectation of a nice on-premise dinner, Ludmilla informed us that the chef had unexpectedly left and offered to prepare a simple salad instead. While unexpected things can happen, it would have been appreciated if we had been informed in advance.
Breakfast was also rather limited. The fruit selection consisted only of grapes from the garden, and there was just a single type of cheese available. For a property positioning itself as a château, we expected a more generous and varied breakfast.
Another drawback is the location. Although the surroundings are pleasant, the château is situated close to a busy road, and traffic noise was clearly noticeable, especially at night.
We stayed in the Farmhouse Duplex. The lower-level bed was particularly disappointing: it was essentially a simple camp-bed frame with a thin mattress and offered very little comfort.
Because of the animals kept on the property, there were many mosquitoes. As the rooms are not air-conditioned, the windows have to remain open during warm nights. Unfortunately, there are no mosquito screens, so despite using insect repellent, we ended up with numerous mosquito bites.
Overall, Château de Marnand felt much more like a stay on a charming countryside farm than a luxury château hotel. That would have been perfectly fine if the pricing reflected that level of accommodation. Unfortunately, the rates are in line with a château hotel, while the overall experience did not meet those expectations.

由于庄园内饲养了许多动物，蚊子也特别多。由于房间里没有空调，在温暖的夜晚只能把窗户开着。遗憾的是，这里没有防蚊纱窗，因此尽管使用了驱蚊剂，我们还是被蚊子咬了好几处。
总体而言，马尔南城堡给人的感觉更像是入住一家充满魅力的乡村农场旅馆，而非一家豪华城堡酒店。如果价格能体现这种住宿水平的话倒也无可厚非。可惜的是，其定价与城堡酒店的标准相当，但实际体验却未能达到预期。
