点评:Had a morning wandering round the Bridlington old town and visited for the first time the Bayle Museum.
This is a Grade 1 listed building with some original stonework from 12th C having previously been a wooden castle. In the 14th C it became the gate house to the Priory. However after the dissolution (1537) it had multiple uses over the centuries including prison, court, school and garrison and is now run by the Charity Lords of Feoffees who benefit the people and town of Bridlington.
Entry is FREE and opens between 11am and 4pm Monday to Friday. Free unlimited roadside parking is close. The Volunteers are highly knowledgeable and friendly. There are seven rooms, most upstairs, access to which is by a stone spiral staircase. So disabled access would be difficult. Donations can be made to assist the running of the Bayle.
The exhibits cross the years of its existence and relates to the Bayle (derives from Fr, 'enclosure' or 'ward'), religious, royalty, military and the local town.
The rooms are superbly laid out and the huge numbers of exhibits are both fascinating and really well kept. The information boards don't intrude and are highly informative.
Put a good hour aside for this visit and it is highly recommended. It's appropriate to use the cliché for this small museum as 'a hidden gem'.

展品跨越了博物馆存在的各个时期,与 Bayle(源自 Fr,意为“围场”或“病房”)、宗教、皇室、军队和当地城镇有关。
