点评:This is a great theatre, but the customer service really needs improvement. We attended the children’s performance of Robin Hood and arrived on time. There were no allocated seats for this show, so people could sit anywhere. We found seats and the play began shortly after.
About five minutes into the performance, a family of five arrived late and struggled to find seats in the dark. An actress from the play asked my children to sit on the floor and asked me to move several seats along to make space for the latecomers. This was not ideal, especially as my daughter has a knee injury and found it difficult and painful to sit on the cold floor with her knee bent.
The late‑arriving family then sat next to us. Their young son, who was sitting on his mother’s lap, was screaming loudly and repeatedly kicking my son, who was sitting on the floor in front of them. Their grandmother also kept talking throughout the performance in another language. It was extremely distracting, and we struggled to focus on what was happening in the play.
Latecomers should not be prioritised over visitors who arrive on time and behave respectfully. It felt very unfair. If Churchill Theatre intends to allow late entry, they should consider keeping a few chairs near the entrance to avoid disturbing the audience and the performers.
If everyone behaved like this—arriving late, talking, causing disruption—there would be no point in going to the theatre, as no one would be able to enjoy the performance.
