Variety, beauty, nature, beautiful landscapes, inserting, quirky towns. A great way to experience this part of Columbia
Living Trips的点评
点评:Our full day trip to the Cocora Valley, Salento and Filandia was full of contrasts and extremely interesting. Much of this was because we had a great guide - Diana Agudelo and a super, patient and lovely driver Olmar. From the moment we picked up our third passenger (there were only three in total), Diane spotted some coffee bushes by the track, we stopped and she gave us a great explanation, with samples, of where the different types of coffee are grown, choices about processing and hence differing qualities etc. it was so good and clear.
We drove to the Cocora Valley to see the national tree, wax palms. A beautiful place, with stunning scenery. Again Diana’s explanations of the palms, its growth were great, but she also found opportunities to help us understand and experience the amazing wax outside of the palms but without damaging live trees. The trek up the valley was hard, but she was helpful to those who needed it and regular explanations, with samples, made the effort really worthwhile.
From here we went to a place on the outskirts of Salento where we planted a palm tree, which really helped bring home the need, and Columbia’s efforts for sustainability.
I loved Salento with its colourful shops and super craft products and this provided such a contrast with the mornings activities. Again, explanations about the development of both here and Filandia were great and gave us a greater appreciation. Be warned, not all shops take cards, so worth taking cash.
We didn’t just retrace our return journey, but went through other towns so we saw more of the beautiful countryside
I’d highly recommend this day trip. It gives a great insight into this part of Columbia and if you’re lucky enough to get Diana and Olmar you’re in for an informative, varied and great day
