Fantastic experience from a family run winery

点评：We had an absolutely excellent visit to Fournarakis Winery and Distillery in Episkopi, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our time in Crete.
Angela, one of the owners, was a superb guide and host. She was warm, welcoming and extremely knowledgeable, and took the time to explain both the winemaking and traditional raki distilling processes in a really interesting and engaging way. It was also lovely to hear about the wider family behind the winery and the traditions they have built around it.
The whole experience felt personal and authentic rather than commercial or rushed. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about the local grape varieties, seeing how the wines and spirits are produced, and of course tasting the results.
Angela and her family’s enthusiasm for the winery, the distillery and Cretan traditions really came through and made the visit especially memorable.
If you are staying in or around Heraklion and want to visit a genuine family-run Cretan winery and distillery, we would highly recommend Fournarakis. Excellent hospitality, a fascinating tour and a wonderful experience from start to finish.
