点评：Just returned from France after a three-day tour of the Maginot Line in the Sedan area, a stunning visit to the French ouvrage LaFerte, the Verdun Battlefield, and numerous places associated with the US-French Meuse- Argonne Offensive. As a professor of history...and more importantly passionate WWI and WWII fanatic...this was a "once in a lifetime" experience. Richard Tucker's knowledge of the "breakthrough at Sedan" and everything associated with the locations I've mentioned is exemplary...more accurately stunning. I don't think there's a site in the area associated with the world wars with which Richard isn't I intimately familiar. His knowledge base represents 20 years of devoted research, which never ceased to amaze me. Richard is actively involved in noting the various gun emplacements and fortifications of the Maginot Line in the region, which can be found at wikimaginot.eu, a detailed source of info for anything to do with the various locations of the Maginot Line.
One of the highlights of the tour was our trip to LaFerte in which we were joined by another brilliant chap, Roger Schmidt, who gave me a two-hour tour of the fort's interior down to the most minute of details.
For anyone interested in visiting the Maginot Line, it's hard to imagine a better choice.
