点评:The Folsom Museum seems to be a storehouse for things that people from the area found in their grandparents' closets and donated. And honestly, that is kind of what made it fun. The artifacts are loosely arranged by topic, but mostly it is just racks of stuff with terse labels giving minimal explanation of what they are. There were old clothes, dolls, fossils, spear points, and cans and displays from the building's general store days. My kids (aged 8 and 6) and I visited after several days of exploring Capulin Mountain and Sugarite Canyon State Park, and my kids were fascinated by all the stuff. (They were greatly interested in the landline telephones and the typewriters, as if they were trying to tell me that I'm old.) I had told my kids that this was more of a dad stop than a kid stop, but I was surprised at how into it they were.
As a testament to the quirkiness of this place, two of the principal attractions - the old general store vault and safe - are in a side room that obviously also doubles as an office for the museum. I had to explain to the kids that the desktop computer and the Keurig were probably not historical artifacts.
Admission to the museum is free, and an hour would give you more than enough time to see everything. We were there in the late morning, and it was kind of busy, but we were able to see everything that we wanted to with little trouble.
