Mount Kearsarge的点评
点评：Mt. Kearsarge (South) – The Winslow Trail - Warner & Wilmot, NH – 7/4/26.
Arrived at 830am. $4 fee per person to enter, paid to the ranger at the gate house. Roads leading in were paved and in good condition. Paved, large parking lot, not even ¼ full.
Multiple, clean restrooms, picnic tables and nice views.
Trails very clearly defined and marked with red blazes on trees and rocks.
A bit of everything – flat sections, dirt, roots, rocks and large slabs – no boulders to climb over however. Stating the obvious now, but the slabs could be very slipper if wet. The trail is basically straight up and down with no switch-backs. There were no water crossings or water sources on this trail.
Weather conditions on our hike were 76dgrs, partly sunny, light but steady breeze, NO bugs and a bit humid. Trail was dry. Reached the summit by 930am, not many people. There is a fire tower (that you can’t get into, but you can climb almost to the top and a large radio antenna tower at the summit).
The views were spectacular. You are above tree line at the summit so 360dgr views. We saw several dogs that had no trouble getting up.
When we got down around 10:45am, the lot had filled up some but there were still ample spaces left. There is also a winter parking lot (dirt) a little way down the road before the main gate if the main lot had been full, you could park and walk in.
We are in our mid 50’s, decent shape, and have completed the 48, NH 4,000+ mountains and we found this to be easy (that’s not to say we were not huffing and puffing by the time we reached the summit). We hike heavy and slow with my pack weighing it at 42lbs.
Great hike – we likely won’t do it again as we are working on the “52 With a View List” and have many more to go……
