Sunset on the Great Wall, highlight of my China trip
慕田峪长城的点评
点评：Mutianyu is the best section of the Great Wall to visit from Beijing. Beautifully restored, and the view of the wall snaking over the green mountains with all the watchtowers is just unreal. Standing up there you really understand how huge it is.
We took the cable car up, quick ride and you arrive right on the wall with lots of energy to walk between the towers. We stayed until sunset and it was the highlight of the whole China trip, the sun going down behind the mountains through the arched window of a watchtower, simply magical. Fun detail for Germans: there is a stone near the wall thanking the Henkel Group from Duesseldorf for helping restore this section in 1989.
Honest feedback: it gets very crowded in the afternoon, long queues for the cable car and the shuttle bus, and the towers near the cable car get packed. Walk a bit further away from the cable car station and it gets much quieter.
Tips: book tickets and cable car in advance, go early or stay for sunset, bring water and good shoes, lots of steep steps. A must do, highly recommend :)

诚恳建议：下午时分这里会变得非常拥挤，缆车和接驳巴士前排起长队，缆车站附近的塔楼也人满为患。只要离开缆车站稍远一些，环境就会安静许多。小贴士：提前预订门票和缆车票，早点去或留下来欣赏日落，带上水和舒适的鞋子，那里有很多陡峭的台阶。绝对值得一去，强烈推荐 :)
