Two unforgettable days in Lalibela
拉利贝拉岩石教堂的点评
点评：We spent 11 days in Ethiopia, from July 12th to 23rd, travelling as a group of six. We visited both the north (Lalibela) and the south (Arba Minch, Jinka and the surrounding area).
We flew to Lalibela and spent more than two days there. I travel a lot, but I was genuinely amazed by the experience. Why? In many famous places, such as the Taj Mahal, it is difficult to simply enjoy what you are seeing. Huge crowds, people pushing past each other, everyone taking selfies — for me, it can be quite awful.
Lalibela was completely different. It was just the six of us, the local people and our guide, Kassahun. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
When we visited the churches, we happened to come across religious ceremonies taking place there. There was no problem at all with entering and, in fact, even taking part in the ceremonies. It was an incredible experience: the music, the sounds, the traditional clothing, the religious objects and all the details around us. We were able to see everything up close, take photographs, and learn about the history and meaning behind what we were seeing.
If you need a guide in Lalibela, I can wholeheartedly recommend Kassahun (WhatsApp: +251 985 259 442). He took very good care of us and made our visit a truly memorable experience.
