点评:We visited The Point in Eastleigh to see an excellent performance by a local amateur theatre group. The show was fantastic, and the venue itself is lovely.
Unfortunately, our experience was let down by the café, which feels like a missed opportunity. We arrived early to enjoy a drink and a chat before the performance, but were disappointed by both the service and what was on offer. We paid £7.50 for a single can of Pepsi (served as-is, with no glass or ice) and a small machine-made cappuccino in a paper cup.
Although proper coffee cups were sitting behind the counter, we were told they couldn't be used because the kitchen was closed during shows, so they couldn't be washed. When we questioned this, we were rather abruptly told that "it's policy."
I'm sorry, but this is a theatre. Shows are exactly when your café is likely to be busiest, so the catering provision should be organised to reflect that. It seems strange that customers attending performances are expected to accept a reduced service because there happens to be a show on.
It's such a shame, because the venue itself is excellent and the performance was thoroughly enjoyable. With a better café experience, it would have been a perfect visit.
