点评:This was the first place we visited on our holiday in Xi’an. The Palace was about a 40-minute cab ride from our hotel, The Vienna International on Xi Ying Road, the cab ride was about ¥70. We use cabs, as even though taxis were queuing outside the hotel, my wife prefers to use cabs booked through an app as they’re cheaper and more comfortable cars. A taxi for the same place would be around ¥100.
Note: We could have got there by the metro to the Hua Qing Chi station, it’s then only a few minutes walk to the main gate.
Tickets for the palace were ¥120 each, there was no discount for ancients, even ancient foreigners waving a passport. We were approached to see if we need a guide, but my wife said she knew the story of the King and his women.
Note: My wife bought tickets at the ticket office, you cab buy them on-line but, as usual, you have to have a Chinese ID card or Chinese passport. Foreign passports are not recognized. Just remember, at holiday times this place gets many visitors. It is worth phoning to check if there are tickets available.
Once inside we wandered around, there’s various buildings to wander around and see the Queen’s baths. There are four or five of them, and they were discovered about 30 years ago. Besides the baths there’s little else to see. Be aware that the buildings they’re in are only about 20 years old. The original buildings are long gone.
After about an hour of wandering around, we’d had enough and made our way to the exit.
My wife enquired about The Song of Everlasting Sorrow show which takes place a couple of times there every evening. We could book tickets and wait for that evening’s 7 o’clock show but the though waiting there for four more hours was just too much, and besides on this Friday the evening weather forecast didn’t look too good.
In fact, on the following Tuesday when the weather was more settled, we saw the show (TA reviewed).
