点评:Umananda temple is located on peacock Island in the middle of the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati, Assam. To visit this place you will need to take a ferry ride from the banks. Devotees board ferries from Uzan Bazaar Ghat or Fancy Bazaar Ghat. Boats Runs with regular frequency of around 15 to 30 minutes. The ferry ride takes around 10-15 Minutes one side which is very unique experience. One has to climb few steps after getting down from the boat. Close to the steps there is a welcome Arch leading to the main temple.
This Shiv temple was built in 1694 A.D. by the Bar Phukan Garhganya handique by the order of King Gadadhar Singha who was the husband of Sati Joymati a great Devout of Lord Shiva. This temple was heavily damaged during an earthquake in 1897 and was restored by a rich merchant.
