Historic center, plenty to see in a few days.

点评：We stayed in a B&B in the center and faux par on our behalf, as it is impossible to park a car anywhere near. You need a car if you want to go to the beach. We went to Hemingway Lido which is around a 15 minute drive at the most, it cost €28 euro for 2 sunbeds and a parasol.
We booked a taxi from a Google search and it quoted €13, however when we reached our destination the driver wanted €25!! We explained that we had paid through the app, but we were told the payment had not gone through, we checked it was true and when we checked our confirmation for the price of the trip, it said estimated for the price, so please be aware, we would not have spent that amount on a day to the beach.
There is a very good train service and the station is easy to find, again be aware that they are improving all stations that we used. We went yo Poligano al Mare, Monopoli, Lecce, Ostuni and Taranto. All trips start from around €7 depending on what time you travel, all were on time, the carriages are clean and comfortable.
There are plenty of fabulous restaurants to choose from, however ask what the dishes are if the menu is not offered in your language so you know what you are ordering. Also you will incur cover charges of 2-3€ per person, water and bread basket, so at least 10€ before your choice of dish.
