Awesome tour of Prince Edward Island

点评： We had 4 of us on our tour. We were told ahead of time where to meet our guide in the Cruise terminal. Our guide , Don, was there when we got off the ship. We loaded up and headed off. Don let us know about the history and other information about the island. We started by tour in Charlottetown. The town was decorated up for Halloween. Don said that the local businesses were having a scarecrow contest so they were everywhere. This was really fun to see.
We next headed to the north shore. We saw Dalvay by the Sea. AFter we stopped to get some pictures of the Covehead Harbor lighthouse. the views here were amazing. We made a stop at an art gallery/cafe. This was a nice stop to see a lot of local made crafts. Farther on we stopped in North Rustico. On the way here Don showed us the areas where they grow mussels and oysters. He showed us how these are grown which was interesting to learn. In North Rustico we visited a lobster port. Don showed us lobster boats as well as lobster pots. He told us how they are caught and explained about sizing to prevent over fishing. We mad a stop to take some pictures of the Cactus Pot and Cavendish cliffs. The beauty and history is a treat.
We next went to Green Gables Heritage place. This is where the house from the book "Anne of Green Gables" is at. This stop (for us) was more of side stop as we poked around a bit and had a restroom break. We didn't want to tour the house itself. But we did take a fun picture there with some headwear provided by Don.
On the way back toward Charlottetown we stopped in New Glasgow. We stopped at Prince Edward Island Preserve Company. This was a quick stop to see local jelly making. This was a crowded stop as the big busses also stop here. After this is was back to Charlottetown thru some beautiful scenery.
Our tour was 5 hours (actually a bit more) and was worth every penny we paid. Don was awesome and fun to be with. I am sure we learned a lot more here than we would have on a large bus tour.
