Tunnel of Eupalinos的点评
点评：My husband was most excited about visiting this site. We got a cab from our hotel up the hill to the entrance because the hill walk is steep & it saved time as we had plans for later in the day.
The view from the entrance was fabulous!
The site opens at 8:30 with the first walk down the tunnel at 9am. Because we were early, there was only us & another 2 people on our walk.
You are given hair nets & hard hats to go down the tunnel, which turned out to be helpful, especially for my 6’2 husband!
The staff we met at the site were all very friendly & our guide very knowledgeable. She seemed to enjoy taking photos of us & gave us pointers of where to stand to get good light effects etc.
The tightest section is about 100 yards (?) but after that, there is plenty of room. The floor is slippery at times so mind your step. We walk about 830 meters into the mountain before turning back.
Perhaps €10 is a little steep for the amount of time but if it allows for jobs for locals & the care of looking after such an ancient & interesting site, I’m satisfied.
The walk down the hill was obviously quite warm but was still pleasant, & allowed us to stop at the Roman Theatre as we passed. We had a great time :)
