点评:The grounds for the Kodaiji Temple was a lot larger than I expected.
After paying admission and upon entering, the pathway was initially under construction but just for the beginnjng portion only.
The main hall (hojo) required the removal of shoes and I carried them in a plastic bag throughout. It was partially under construction so not much to see. A large rock garden in the back could’ve used a bit more raking to make the lines more distinct like other rock gardens we saw on this trip.
Right outside the main hall was a very nice garden and great for taking some beautiful pictures of the temple grounds. A little further was the mausoleum that housed Hideyoshi and Nene (no photos allowed inside) but you could view their figures.
If you do not have time to visit the Arashiyama bamboo forest then one can walk through the temple’s own bamboo grove. It was smaller and less crowded.
Once the renovation in the main hall is completed then there might be more to see in the future.
