Beautiful even in Winter
库尔兰沙嘴国家公园的点评
点评：Visited Curonian Spit in December, on a short trip (by rental car) from Klaipeda. We took the 8:20AM ferry that only takes 5 minutes to cross to the other side; at this time of year the ferries were departing every 20 minutes in peak time, and every hour outside of peak times. I would suggest being at the ferry booth a bit earlier if you want to catch a specific ferry (ferries are not big, and locals have a priority lane). We paid 23 Euro for a return ticket (1 car including passengers). There is another checkpoint and booth to pay a local tax (10 Euro) once you’re on the Spit (Neringa) and entering the Park. A tourism office in Klaipeda Old Town offers great information on the Park, including up to date crossing schedule.
Depending on the time of year and your interests, you could easily spend a whole day in the Park. We drove to the very end, close to the Russian border, and started the visit from there. Visit to the beautiful Parnidis Dune was superb. Beautiful views, some sculptures and benches, very nice tall Sundial /Sun Clock; you can walk on the dune, but be aware of possibly strong winds. There’s washrooms and a small parking lot at the Parnidis Dune. We also drove and stopped at the village of Nida. It’s very picturesque, with beautiful colourful traditional houses, pleasant harbour/small beach area. There’s definitely a lot more to discover in Nida, but many cafes and public washrooms were closed for the Winter. There’s a grocery store where you can buy food and beverages, i.e. pastries.
Even for a short Winter visit we needed 3-4 hours to enjoy those top two sites (including ferry crossings), so plan accordingly. It really was a highlight of the region for us, though, and very much worth the time. Highly recommended.
