点评:Seeing Mt Fuji in person is amazing, photos just don't do it justice, but in certain areas the crowds are significant. Kawaguchiko Station for instance is a mad house, but once you find which one of the sightseeing buses you need, you can head to a quieter area. Areas around Lake Kawaguchi which aren't the popular spots are very nice and pleasant for minimal people and a serene view of the mountain. I suppose it goes without saying that many of the popular spots are overcrowded. None more so, in my experience, than Oshino hakkai. In the photos it looks like a cute, serene place to visit
but again it was a mad house there.
One of my favourite places to visit was Kawaguchiko Konohana Museum, which is a museum for a children's book character called Dayan the Cat. I'd never heard of this before, but being a fan of art & cats i went to see what it was about and was pleasantly surprised. It is fairly small but it has many examples of original art. Be aware that it's all in Japanese. Well worth a visit if you share those interests.
All in all it's well worth a day trip to Mt Fuji, but you might be best served just finding a quiet area around the lake and taking it in.
In regards to the journey there and back, i would highly suggest reserving seats on the Fuji Excursion train. This train only has around three carriages and unless you book in advance you'll likely be standing for the whole 2 hour journey as many were when i went. I booked with Klook a couple of months in advance and everything went fine.
