We visited as a family, including relatives from El Salvador, and felt completely unwelcome by the café manager. There was no greeting, we were spoken to abruptly, and the overall attitude was cold and dismissive.
What was most upsetting was the way we were looked at while speaking in our own language, it felt uncomfortable and, honestly, discriminatory. My husband (who is Scottish) also noticed this and was very upset by how his wife and her family were treated.
As members of the National Trust for Scotland, we expected a much higher standard of hospitality, especially in a place that welcomes international visitors.
This experience has left us very disappointed and we will take further action about this.
