Nice setting but a few issues took the shine off

点评：We visited Westlands Country Park during May half term, staying in one of the Stargazing Pods.
There were definitely some really lovely elements to the site. The grounds are well kept and the clubhouse is a great space. We also really liked the little touches like the milk hut, and seeing the geese, ducklings and peacocks wandering around added to the experience. The location is also a big plus, with plenty of nice places to visit nearby.
However, there were a few downsides that did impact our stay. From the start, we felt a bit on edge about potentially being charged our deposit. We reported three issues on the first night (a shower that wasn’t draining, a broken kitchen tap, and a missing fridge compartment) just to make sure we wouldn’t be held responsible. To their credit, the shower was fixed that same night. Be aware that the reception is only open 8am-5pm, even on check in day.
The Stargazing Pod itself felt quite cramped, especially in the upstairs bedroom area which made it difficult to move around comfortably. The window in the stargazing area was also dirty, which took away from the experience. As the weather was warm, the pod became very hot – we were glad we brought a fan as these aren’t provided but really should be. Privacy was also limited, which may not suit everyone.
Overall, we did enjoy parts of our trip and the park has some great features, however we would probably choose somewhere else if visiting Scotland again.
