点评:We visited Hanazono Shrine several times during our stay nearby, including for the flea market and on New Year’s Eve, which gave us a really nice sense of how the atmosphere changes.
Outside of peak times, it’s a lovely, tranquil space — a peaceful little pocket of calm tucked right into the middle of busy Shinjuku. It’s a great place to slow down and take a break from the city.
During events, though, it becomes incredibly lively and crowded. Visiting for New Year’s Eve in particular was a completely different experience, with a buzzing, festive atmosphere that felt very special.
There’s also a small shrine shop where you can purchase goshuin and other items, including cute fox statues (kitsune), which are traditionally associated with Inari shrines and add a lovely cultural touch.
It’s definitely worth visiting more than once if you have the chance — both for the quiet moments and the vibrant energy during events.
