点评:Compared to 2004 and 2006, the Park is down heavily (in October 2026). Does it have management at all? Based on experience in 40+ countries - if the present standard is World Heritage Site, then och... Normally, similar places attract professionals, like biologists etc. with certain demand of quality, not just merely: o, beautiful vistas! Landscape views of Mt Kinabalu are available from many points of roadsides; no entry is needed for a such. Half of trails are closed below the Timpohon gate. Even former entry to Kiau View trail is moved forward so as to channel visitors along the "ticket lady". By the way, its new entry is evidently worse than the original one which remains in normal condition until the very end (primitively blocked by shrubs). Compared to 2006, yes, collection of fees is elaborated; it seems it is the highlight of visit - as more, as better. From the text on the ticket: valid for one day (50 RM=11 EUR), for overnight visitors this is valid for 3 days. Imagine, you stay (by mistake due to former reminiscences) 7-8 days. Certainly, foreigners can pay, no problem. BUT TO PAY FOR WHAT? New management, park philosophy and normal access to trails are urgent. Dear Sabah Park authorities, there is definitely difference between World Heritage Site (and arising obligations, by the way) and primitive tourist trap. I do envy those people which write superior reviews about this place in its current shape. Luckily this time did not purchase the climb (enough with that in 2006). Ticket nr.234744 holder.
Minor technical advises: if you do not distinguish between lilies and water-lilies, yes, the Park's so called "botanical garden" is yours. Leeches are on most trails, especially in wet leaf litter along Kiau View, which is just normally. Trails are in normal condition for this season and not dangerous even for beginners. Be aware of deteriorated handrails and unmaintained boardwalks.
