Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple的点评
点评：I’m a Hindu from North India, someone who isn’t deeply religious but understands and respects the rituals and traditions. However, my experience at Kashi Vishwanath Temple, while attempting a simple heritage visit, was deeply disappointing.
The regular darshan queue begins at Gate No. 2 near Mir Ghat, with waiting times stretching into several hours. To avoid this, I opted for the ₹300 “Sugam Darshan” (VIP) entry from Gate No. 4, expecting a smoother experience. Instead, it turned out to be chaotic and frustrating.
Just reaching the gate is a hassle, there are multiple touts pressuring visitors to leave their footwear and phones at private lockers for a fee. Once inside, security is tight, with multiple checkpoints verifying tickets, which is understandable. However, the same uniformed policemen repeatedly broke the queue to escort “protocol” visitors, apparently acquaintances of politicians, who didn’t even have tickets. When questioned, the response was dismissive: “We will not answer you.”
After finally entering the premises, we had to deposit phones and footwear in official lockers, only to rejoin the queue again, adding further delay. Queue management was poor throughout, lines kept breaking, people argued, and there was no proper regulation.
And after all this, the actual darshan lasted barely half a second before we were pushed out.
Additionally, items like cosmetics and medicines must be deposited at a counter, or you’ll be forced to discard them during security checks.
In the end, I would say: visit only if you are deeply religious and prepared for the experience. If you’re seeking peace or a meaningful connection, you might find more solace sitting quietly at Manikarnika Ghat, reflecting on life, rather than losing your peace of mind in the process.
