An abbey well worth a visit

点评：We went on a gloriously warm Sunday afternoon, mainly because there’s an English-language tour of the Abbey every day at 4pm. That turned out to be a good decision. The gardens are beautiful, with a series of different themed areas to explore, and there are plenty of mature trees providing welcome shade when the sun is doing its best to melt you.
It wasn’t overcrowded, so we were able to take our time and simply enjoy wandering around and reading a book. The guided tour lasted about an hour and was both interesting and informative, bringing the history of the Abbey to life without feeling overly long.
The restaurant was also very good, although there was one slightly quirky feature: to get to it you have to leave the grounds and then re-enter afterwards. It feels a bit like a very gentle escape room—but with lunch at the end.
