Musei di Fiesole的点评
点评：This is the main tourist site in Fiesole, a very lovely little town on the outskirts of Florence.
The Musei di Fiesole encompasses two museums plus the Archaeological Area. You can visit all three on the one ticket (€12).
The highlight is the Archaeological Area with its ancient Roman theatre and baths and Etruscan temple ruins. For such a small town, this is a surprisingly impressive site. It’s just 30 minutes from Florence but you won’t find any of the Florence crowds here. We had the site almost entirely to ourselves.
The Civic Archaeological Museum is right next to the ancient theatre. It’s not huge but it is a good little museum, spread over two levels. Many of the artefacts have come from the archaeological site.
One of the most interesting exhibits was a reconstruction of three Longobard tombs. I knew little about this Germanic race who settled in Fiesole at the end of the 6th century AD but the graves and accompanying information was very good.
Mostly the information and signs in the Civic Museum are in Italian but a good number are in English as well.
The third site is the Bandini Museum which houses a collection of medieval and Renaissance art. Unfortunately, it’s not open every day and it was closed the day we went so check opening times if you’re keen to see all three.
NOTE:
The #7 ATAF Florence-Fiesole bus has recently changed its route. You can no longer catch it from Santa Maria Novella train station in Florence. Instead you have to walk to Piazza della Liberta which is not quite as central or as convenient.
