点评:Magnificent Sint-Janskerk, the longest church in Holland is home to 72 magnificent stained glass windows (many of them restored). They are absolutely stunning; especially when the sun is out!
The Sint-Janskerk is a functioning church only on Sundays, when it is closed to visitors. During the week, it is more of a museum, so you have to pay €10 to enter. I decided to buy a combination ticket for €21: it includes entrance to the Sint-Janskerk, the Museum Gouda, and a cup of coffee at the lovely museum cafe. It is a good deal, I think.
I also took a quick walk through the small garden with the statues of the most prominent citizens of Gouda: Gerard Leeu (the printer) and Erasmus. It is presumed that Erasmus was born in Gouda and not in Rotterdam , but who knows?
Around the Sint-Janskerk there are many interesting sights, like Lazarus Gate, St.Catherine’s Hospital, beautiful sculpture garden, and pretty narrow canals.
