点评：We started our trip in yellow knife and came in from Hay river to the salt flats turn off on the right of highway 5. It's about 11 km off the highway. And then we continued on the back road, parson lake or Pine Lake campground road. Whichever the name of it is, we did our diligence tried to call parks Canada and checked their website. It said that the road was open and that there could be some trees on the road, which we thought, well, obviously we'd be able to drive around them or else they would have closed the road. That was the case for the first 4 incidences of trees down on the road. We had to get out of the vehicle and remove some of them, but they were lightweight. We started worrying that maybe this wasn't such a good idea. And hoped that nothing else would happen. As far as bigger, giant, more trees. It was very scenic, but you could only go about 30 km in most places, so it took almost two hours to get close to the exit that takes you towards the pine lake campground on the highway or gravel road. We saw lots of Buffalo in the wild. We were almost at the end when a giant set of trees was right across the road, completely blocking it concluding our worst fears. The road should have obviously been closed and a sign put on the highway on both ends we were not looking forward to a grueling two hour drive back and then all the way back to pine lake from fort smith. Hopefully parks canada didn't actually know about this and not bother to put the signs up, we gave the visitors center the g p s coordinates once we got out of it. There is no service throughout the park. Only at the beginning. So we were on our own. We had to dig our way around the trees. Clearing burned out, brush, twigs and level the sand out a bit So we could get around the downed heavy trees completely blocking. There was no way we were turning around and going back when we were only a mile from the gravel road. Hopefully Parks Canada puts signs up. I would not go down this road again. It looks like a wagon trail with rocks and sand unless you get an answer from someone at the parks department that they know for sure that this road is not blocked with trees completely. Otherwise, this was a beautiful drive. We decided to go further south to Pine Lake Campground, it seems to me that Parks Canada has let this place completely go. It looks overgrown, we had wanted to rent the cabins prior to coming here, but they don't look like they've been used for a long time. There was a few people in the campground. It doesn 't face the lake or have a view like the cabins would. They are high up and have a nice view. What a shame that those can't be rented. They were so rustic looking their log cabins. We were too tired to drive to peace point after all the drama with the road. We'll have to do that another time. Also The drive to wood buffalo park from edmonton would be so much better if they just would allow the rest of the highway to be completed instead of having to take the long way around. Be careful when you're driving in the park on our way back to fort smith. We were coming up over a hill, and there was a lot a Buffalo on the highway. It's important to drive slow. Sometimes you might have to wait the buffalo, do not want to move off the highway. Also, do not approach or get out of your vehicle. And keep your distance taking pictures for fear of the vehicle being rammed
