点评:Stretching across more than a square kilometer, Schonbrunn Park is huge, despite it being only one fifth the size of its more illustrious French rival, the Versailles Gardens. One can spend an entire day here to literally smell the roses but most visitors would logically combine a visit to Schonbrunn Park with that to the adjacent Schonbrunn Palace. But unlike the Versailles Gardens which are only accessible as part of the paid entry into the palace, entry into the Schonbrunn Park is free, although you would have to pay to enter the maze, zoo and certain gardens within the park. Walking from the palace-end of the garden to the other end feels like an epic journey that must be completed, with the Gloriette triumphal arch and a sweeping view of the city from the top of a hill awaiting those who persevere in this journey. It’s definitely a worthwhile hike despite having to brave the freezing weather to get to the top. For this and the fact that it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (together with the palace), it's a no-brainer for all first-time visitors to Vienna to include this attraction in their itineraries.
