点评:A must see in Beijing, the scale of the Forbidden City is just crazy. You walk from courtyard to courtyard, gate after gate, and it never ends. The huge stone squares with the golden roofs against the blue sky in the late afternoon light were amazing for photos.
Inside the halls you can see the imperial thrones with the golden calligraphy boards, the painted ceilings with dragons and the cloisonne incense burners, really impressive details. We did a small group tour with an English guide and it made a big difference, lots of stories about the emperors and the palace life. The Treasure Hall and the Clock Hall are absolutely worth the extra.
After the visit walk around the outside to the corner tower by the moat, beautiful with the willow trees and the reflection in the water.
Tips: book your ticket in advance with your passport (real-name booking), wear comfortable shoes because you walk a lot, and go in the afternoon for the best light. Highly recommend :)
