孙德尔本斯国家公园的点评
点评：Much more than watchtowers and tigers, the Sundarban National Park’s extensive mangroves are a wonder, building land, protecting against storms, and home to vast waterways (which they call creeks!) and diverse species of plants and animals.
A knowledgeable guide can point out how the meeting of salt and freshwater and incredible changes in tide levels have led to the evolution of specialty features in leaves, fruits, flowers, and roots, as well as animals which have adapted to this tough environment.
Alright, that includes the Bengal tiger, mighty swimmer, hunter and overall mangrove boss. We saw fresh pug marks leading down one bank and up another across a creek - a tigress and two cubs. This, together with tales of the pervasiveness of tiger encounters amongst locals - talk to them! - and our imagination is lit without even in-the-flesh sighting.
For above all else, the Sundarbans are a lesson in how to co-exist with nature in all its dangers, offerings and beauty.
