Yad Vashem - a " testing" visit
犹太大屠杀纪念馆的点评
点评：This report covers 2 visits to Yad Vashem inside 15 days , because the first visit was a rushed " affair" .
These were my first visits to Yad Vashem in many years
The reason for Yad Vashem is obvious , and I won't delve into commentaries that have already been made - needless to say , I left the site in deep contemplation ,knowing that in some countries , Jews CONTINUE to live in fear, but for various reasons ,do not wish to leave the countries which they have made their home
A quick note , photography outside the museum itself is generally allowed in all areas , but inside the museum , you will need special permission , which I received .It is advisable to book your visit to the museum online , as some days can be very crowded with school trips etc .
You will IMHO need AT LEAST an hour (+) to properly visit the museum , plus at least ANOTHER hour for the exhibits outside .
The site has cloakrooms to leave any bags etc not needed inside the museum , as well as a cafeteria nearby .
For those people that DO get special permission to photograph inside the museum , my advice is switch the ISO setting on your camera to AUTO , to compensate for the low , sombre lighting in the building
