* The main tourist entry point from "new" West Jerusalem to the Old City
* It is the main tourism meeting point for visiting the Old City
* A historical structure that was commissioned and built and completed for the Turkish Ottoman Sultan Suleiman in the 1500s
* Interesting architecture- uniquely structured very tall old wooden door with L-shaped entry and also tiered narrow window turrets used for warfare in the 1500s
CONS
* As amain pedestrian thoroughfare, it cam be very busy and very crowded
"I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... as I walked to me Prince Place and family at the western wall in the Old City of Jerusalem. This time, someone was playing Ethiopian music inside the gate
WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
It's free
WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?
Yes- of course
ADVICE from IVTP
* Admire the medieval Ottoman structure from the 1500s- its walls, doors, narrow window turret used in warfare 500 years and the gigantic Torah scroll attached to the outer door.
* Visit the graves of the designers and architects of the Old City wall- these two architects of the wall were executed by Sultan Suleiman after completion of their task, so that they would not be able to construct anything similar anywhere else
* Do not walk on the street where the cars go- that break in the wall is artificial and modern- opened to allow Kaiser Willhelm to visit n 1917
* Look to see if any musical entertainer is perched on the ledge of the super narrow window
