点评:We came here as part of an organised tour in December 2024. The entrance complex has some toilets alongside the ticket hall. There was plenty of parking for cars and buses of all sizes. I've added a photo of the map at the entrance to give you an idea of the size of the complex.
You walk for a few hundred metres past the museum (more on that below) to the stop where you get into an oversized, electric golf buggy. These then whip you up the road to where the main ruins are.
It's a former site of Hindu temples, so you'll see a lot of phallic symbols, amongst Sanskrit-like font and Hindu gods. You're free to wander into the different buildings - it was busy-ish when we were there, so we did have to wait to go inside some parts. There is a daily performance of culture dance etc. - we used this to view the first site whilst it was a bit quieter!
It had rained earlier that morning, so some of the paths / stones were a bit slippery - something to bear in mind. Someone in our group did slip and hurt their ankle, so please take care and wear good footwear. There are some signs in English, but it's best to have a guide with you to explain the background and significance of the different sites / buildings.
The first site is the best preserved, with some restoration happening. The second is more ruined, but was probably my favourite as you could see more of what it would have looked like. Towards the end of the tour, you'll see some standalone buildings that are surrounded by pits from bomb craters during the war. You then walk back down a boardwalk / path back to jump on the electric buggy and head down the hill - we spent about 2 hours at the site itself - you could be quicker if you wanted to.
We then visited the museum near the entrance at the end. This explains a bit of the history of the site, information about the excavations etc and is worth a look.
