点评:The El Ateneo Grand Splendid was a couple of blocks away from my hotel, so I walked to the site for the opening time of 9am.
The front of the building looks unassuming and looks like any ordinary bookstore.
As soon as you walk in, that image changes to an interior that was originally a theatre, then a cinema, then a radio station and now is without a doubt one of the most beatiful bookstores in the world.
It is free to enter the building, but there is a charge to the exhibition space and coffee shop on the third tier, which I did not visit.
I did use the cafe on the stage, which was a surreal experince looking at balconies of the original theatre and a sea of books.
There is an escaltor down to a children's section and there is also a vinyl record store down there.
This is definitely a must see in Buenos Aires and a truly unique experience, which I highly recommend.
