点评:The Grotto is located just a short drive from Loch Ard Gorge and is actually part of Port Campbell National Park. From the parking lot, a short path leads to a set of wooden stairs that take you down to a small, intimate viewing platform.
The view from this lower deck is incredible. You find yourself at eye level with a sinkhole that acts as a natural, rugged archway. This rock window beautifully frames the calm, clear rock pools in the foreground against the dramatic, crashing waves of the Southern Ocean in the background. It feels like looking out from a secret cave.
Because the viewing deck is quite small, there is usually a long line of people waiting to take photos. To avoid the crowds, I highly recommend visiting right before sunset, between 6:30 PM and 8:00 PM. While visibility is a little lower at this time, the fading light gives the photos a moody, completely different vibe.
For example, we initially visited around 3:00 PM, and it was absolutely packed. Because it is so close to the main Twelve Apostles site, many tour companies stop there in the afternoon. We decided to leave and come back after 6:00 PM—there were significantly fewer people, making the whole experience much more enjoyable!
