点评：I had an unforgettable week in Essaouira last October - 5 days of photography with Darren and 2 days of cooking with Naima. Although the tour was for up to 6 people I had the privilege of being their only guest so I enjoyed a full week of one to one tuition. On day 1, I was asked what kind of photos I would like to go home with, and what I like to eat, and the whole week was tailored to my needs, which included different location outside, but nearby Essaouira.
I was not surprised to learn Darren used to be a teacher - he lets you work out the best camera settings rather than simply telling you, which is of course how you learn. Every day, there was plenty time for reviewing the photos taken during the day with detailed feedback and suggestions for improvements. I also enjoyed the chats and reviews of different styles and trends in photography. Darren gave some good recommendations on upgrading my kit which I`ve done last week, so I look forward to playing with a more modern camera and using a better, more versatile lens.
I also cooked two wonderful 2-course meals with Naima who is not just a fantastic teacher but also a wonderful person who I related to well and instantly. I essentially spent the week with locals and learnt such a lot about the way of life and the culture.
The Hotel (Maison del Sud) and Essaouira are absolutely beautiful. I was actually quite tired as all the sensations can be so overwhelming - the sights, the colors, the crowds, the smells and the sounds. There are a lot of street cats in Essaouira, and although there is food, water and boxe with blankets for them everywhere some may find the sight of them distressing. Food is easily available in the shop, and if you buy wet food you will be surrounded by cats as soon as you open the pouch!
Would definitely recommend and also consider a tour with Darren and Naima.
