点评：A beautiful temple located at the foot hills of Arunachala Hills in a huge complex of 25 acres with 6 gopurams and huge ponds in it. This is one of the five pancha boothas (five elements) temple. The temple houses Lord Arunachaleshwara (Shiva) as Agni Lingam. The temple has other deities too including Sri Ganesha, Sri Murugan and Sri Durgae. There are a number of huge halls in the complex.
The temple attracts lots of devotees especially during Full moon day when piligrims circumvent the Arunachala Hills. Karthika Maasam in November/December is considered one of the shreshta (divine) month to visit this temple. During Karthika Purnami (full moon day) a huge lamp is lit on the top of Arunachala hill which is visible for a few miles away from the temple town. Close to 3 million people circumvent the Arunachala hills on this day.
This place is generally hot because of the agni lingam here. However October to February is a bit bearable temperatures here. Don't miss doing Girivalum (circumventing the hill) on a pournami (full moon) day. The vibes in this temple town is different on this day.
