点评:As a local to Hawaii, I’ve been up to Mauna Kea couple times. This time we went up for sunrise to bring my mother for the first time. When we got up there, there were cones blocking the right lane of the road. We go up the on the left, like we did last time, and the ranger stopped me and said “you cannot go up on that side of the road, you need to wait till we open.” We turn around and wait in the visitor’s parking lot. Then few minutes later, the tour company, with tourists (I’m assuming), goes up the left side of the road, and the ranger allowed it. When he finally opens the road, we pull up, the younger ranger asked what my gas was at, and it was right under half a tank. He said they recommend half at least half a tank, but will ask his partner. The older ranger then came to us, and immediately said “you can’t go up. Didn’t you check online about the gas rule? Asked if I’ve been up there before. (Which I have) Said he’s been there for 10 years, and he is not letting me up.”
1) SO you give priority to TOURISTS!?!?
2) no consistency, as this was never asked before
3) why isn’t there signs at the bottom about fuel?
4) now a days they make more fuel efficient trucks, vs 10 years ago, this guy needs to get with it.
5) NO ALOHA with that guy!!! Extreme dick!!!
